“Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish. When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore.” (Matthew 13:47-48 NIV)
Men who fished with nets were the first disciples. Perhaps they were well-suited for it because they knew how to sit patiently and weave strands together. In fact, that is precisely what James and John were doing when they heard the beautiful words “Come, follow me.”
Jesus wants us to think of a net when we think of the kingdom. It’s not line-fishing, where we put something fake on a hook, and hope to reel people into a place of our choosing. Instead, we must be weaved together and plunged to the depths of where people are.
No you din’t! This is good, Timmy T. Very good.
