Recorded at Bongo Billy’s Salida Cafe on March 22, 2008, “Too Proud” was written from Psalm 81 by Aaron and the Thorntons. When we read the words, we thought about how akward it is–and how reluctant we sometimes are–to approach the divine, but the glorious miracles that can happen when we approach in belief. I like this song because even if I’m not in a place where I feel like I can sing to God, I can ask “Can you sing over me…?”
The audio recording of this song is now available on a CD called Fourth Circle. Tim, Laurie, and Aaron collaborated with many other great musicians on the album–it’s in the series of Enter the Worship Circle projects–more at entertheworshipcircle.com. Aaronstrumpel.com will tell you more about the guy with the mic in front of his face. Mysterious.
Thank you so much for your excellent, honest music! God has really used your music to impact my life. Thank you for your ministry. Keep doing what you’re doing!
I love what you two bring to the Fourth Circle. [Aaron, I knew you were great already].
gorgeous!! i mean, i know i’m in the video, but still, i don’t get to hear myself with such brilliant musicians very often!!! thanks tim and laurie.
An amazing song. I began to cry as I listened to this song while driving my car. I literally felt that God was taking the weight from my shoulders. Keep writing straight from the word. A truly inspired wonderful song.
one of the best songs of any of the “circle” albums. up there with “put in me” on the first circle.
That’s quite an honor. Thanks, Brandon.
Is there any place I can find the chords to this song? It’s amazing!
