When the enemy whispers to me that I’m lazy or selfish, I sometimes ramp up my efforts at goodness in order to prove him wrong. Which seems right in a way, but it’s such a trap. Because now who is motivating me?
Striving to prove an accusation wrong is still a way of working that’s based in accusation. Never try to earn approval from an accuser.
However, when people don’t work but believe God, the one who approves ungodly people, their faith is regarded as the basis of God’s approval. – Romans 4:5 (GW)
When we receive accusation, we’re enslaved to work for an identity.
When we receive God’s approval by faith, we’re free to work from our identity.
