Our sonship in the Lord is in the lordship of the Son.
It’s in the Son that we are sons. As a result, it doesn’t make sense to think we can walk in sonship in any part of our lives where Jesus’s Lordship is not established.
An attempt to secure the benefits of being a son without the death of self that is required to come into Christ’s resurrected Lordship is a counterfeit sonship, perhaps better called entitlement.
True sonship by its very nature entitles us to one thing above all else: fathering.
It entitles us to the love of the Father who is faithful whether we are getting what we think we deserve or not.
